The Perfect Red Lips for Fall

As I mentioned before, red lipstick is making a big, bold, sexy comeback for Fall. Don't be afraid. The key is to take it on and experiment to find the perfect shade for your skin tone. One key to remember is that orange-reds work best on fair to light skin tones. Blue-reds are perfect for medium to dark tones. I found one lipstick that works well for most skin tones; Mac Viva Glam I. It's a mixture of orange and blue-red, and seems to be mainly universal.

Always keep in mind that when doing a serious red lip, keep the eyes to a minimum. It's perfectly okay to outline your eyes for definiton, but do not go smokey. A basic rule of thumb is when the lips are heavy in color, the eyes should be soft; and vice versa for the eyes. When you are doing a heavy smokey eye, go soft on the lip color. Now there are always exceptions, but if you are a novice when it comes to make-up follow the basic guidelines...
Here is a short tutorial video on how to apply the perfect, glamour red lip. Happy Shopping!!!

2009 VMA....Love 'em or Don't Look at 'em....

It was an interesting night, to say the least. The 2009 VMA's put the MTV awards shows back on the map; non-stop great performances, unexpected debochery, and an annoying host! All the ingredients for top-ratings. This was also the time for artists to show off their creative fashion style; or lack thereof. Here are some of my fav's of the night.

Y'all know my girl comes first... Beyonce wore this Roberto Cavalli dress and Cesare Paciotti shoes.... I've seen her in better. I wasn't crazy for the "balloon pouch" in the front of the dress...

Jenny From The Block chose this Louis Vuitton dress and Christian Louboutin shoes. The shoes rock!!!! The dress looks better on the runway. And who paired this dress with these shoes???.....Anyway....

Whoa!!! Ahhmm.........I love Lady Gaga!!!!! She scares me a little, but that only adds to the excitement..LOL... She wore Jean Paul Gaultier all night....

My dear, sweet Taylor Swift... She looks just like lady that she is growing into... Such class in this Kaufman Franco gown...

Oops!!! Shakira and Pink wore this Balmain studded dress! Who rocked it better????? I like the way Shakira added the trendy OTK boots for drama....

Love'em, but..........Speechless!!!! Don't know who/what they are wearing...LOL...

OFF-Fashion Week...

There are theatrical plays that make it to Broadway, and then there are those that come alive "off-Broadway". The same is for the "clothing line" of She by Sheree. Sheree Whitfield of the Real Housewives of Atlanta debuted her much speculated line during the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week 2010. But let's not get it twisted(two snaps and a circle...LOL), it took place during Fashion Week in New York; not at Fashion Week in Bryant Park. I have to get my thoughts together so I can articulate how I feel about this in a mature manner. So for now I will leave you some pics from the showing. I'd love to hear how you feel about this collection... Would you wear it? Do you like it????? Was it worth the hype? You tell me; then I'll tell you.....

2010 Spring MB Fashion Week... Day One

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week kicked off with a little fizz in NYC at Bryant Park. I was so excited to see so many of my early spring predictions come to life. But for the most part I was disappointed. I was not wowed!!!

The day began with an early showing from Michael Angel. The collection entailed a color scheme too dark for spring, but infused with soft fabrics; it works. He showcased the bell shape and feminine frills with rocker edge; as I predicted. Angel translated the "structured" trend of the curent fall season into a softer silhouette to enhance feminine curves. Although this showing did not make me think of a resort vacation break, for the most part, it reminded me of last year's Alexander McQueen Collection. It put me in the mood to be at an uptown Manhattan club siping on a martini. Would I rock the pieces in this collection? Damn right! I love it; just doesn't make me think "Springtime"...
Michael Angel

I was eagerly anticipating the showing from BCBG Maxazria. To my surprise, I was somewhat disapointed. I've seen it all before from him. Draping, draping, draping. Just another way to drape. The collection was beautiful, but I've seen it last year. I wanted to see something exciting from Maxazria. Would I wear this collection? I already have! Been there, it's in my closet, done that. Sorry...
BCBG Maxazria

David Elfin presented his interpretation for Spring 2010 on the promenade. One word to describe this collection>>>androgynous!!! That's all; nothing more, nothing less...
David Elfin

My second highly anticipated collection was from Ports 1961. And she did the damn thing! Her collection embodied all that says resort time. It puts you in the mind of St. Tropez; south of France. Elegant daytime cafe dining to sexy evening get-togethers. Soft color tones, draping, mixing of textures(soft fabrics with adornments and leather belts); bell shapes, lady-like grandeur with unexpected pops; this collection had it all! Check out the video of the entire collection!

Idle Clothing Lines.....

Can you identify the articles of clothing above??? Of course you can! They scream who their creators are.
These days everyone has a clothing line. The difference between clothing lines and designer fashion houses is je ne sais quoi.... Every designer has their own special trait, insignia, and logo. However, what sets apart those celeb-endorsed "fashion lines" from a design house is the logos are not stamped all over the clothes like bright Vegas lights. A true fashionista can easily spot a Versace dress, Prada belt, Dior jacket, Chanel bag, or a non-insigniated LV bag. Even one who may not be so fashion knowledgeable can tell that there is something "special" about a YSL shoe verses the inspired department store version. Quality, details, fabrics, and craftsmanship are so much more superior in a design house.
Super celebs that give their name to "fashion lines" don't even wear the items; unless they are given a promotional opportunity. Most can't even sketch a design, let alone put together a pattern, or know the difference between a bias or seam cut. Most importantly, a design house stands the test of time; it's classic. The designers are just that; they design. They are hands-on with every garment. Their clothes are desired by everyone. It's artwork to be admired and worn.

Classicly fabulous!!!!
