Coco Chanel on Lifetime...

This was icing on the cake for such a fashionlicious week!!! Shirley MacClain stars as Coco Chanel on Lifetime television. The premiere took place on Saturday; the perfect excuse to wind-down from the fashion shows, relax on the sofa, and take in some fashion drama.

Watch the clip here, courtesy of My Lifetime Television

The movie chronicles the legendary fashion icon from her humble childhood beginnings, to her love affairs, and becoming the most influential fashion role model of all time. Chanel is responsible for changing the way a woman wears a hat, a suit, and accessories. She birthed the little black dress and that iconic parfume of the same name. In addition to studying her in fashion school and taking a cinema course that included the original movie version (Chanel Solitaire)on her life, I have watched this movie three times since it originally aired on Saturday. It's very entertaining and leaves me a little more inspired to hustle harder with my own vision.

Just A Thought...

Uuummm. In this month's issue of Vibe Magazine, the 20 Questions section asks, " How come Nelly, co-founder of Apple-Bottoms, is the new spokes-model for Sean John?" hahhhahahhahha
I could not stop laughing... I did not think of it like that, but no matter how hott Nelly is, why would he do that? Is that a smart business move? Shouldn't he try to catch his line up to Puffy's award-winning clothing empire, instead of helping add fuel to the mogul's hotttness? Isn't Puffy such a pimp?LOL....

Anyway, just a thought...

M-B FASHION WEEK...Day Eight

Goes out with a bang!!!

This is it!!! The final day of New York's Mercedes Benz Fashion Week-Spring 2009!!! I covered just about every show that took place today because they all were so fierce!!! First on my agenda was Project Runway. The newcomers gave the pros a run for their money. The collections were elaborate and detailed. The garments were beautifully constructed and the wear-ability was within reason. These designers must be commended for going after their dreams. So fabulous!!!

As expected, Ralph Lauren's collection delivered quintessential classics with modern silhouettes. Very sophisticated, elegant, and always wearable pieces.

I love Tadashi! I own a few of his ever-exquisite gowns. His collection reminded me of the arctic in springtime. White with silver reflections, and royal blue water melting into the ocean. Every now and then you'd see a flower trying to bloom.
Tadashi Shoji

Carmen Marc Valvo showcased the glamour and luxurious designs he's so famous for. I'm sure we'll see a few pieces from this collection on the red carpet.

Donna Karen Collection is the luxury line from Donna Karen. This showing boasted some beautiful fluid-like jersey pieces in muted, earthy tones. Each dress, blouse, pants, skirt gracefully draped the models "frame" and created and illusion of a perfectly proportioned figure. Karen is known for dressing women the way we want to be dressed.

Badgley Mischka's gowns are always so exquisite and detailed; always a celeb favorite.

American designer, Chado Ralph Rucci, showcased his signature structured "look". His collection was wearable art. He always bring avant-garde to everyday people.

Fashion week was a plethora of color and fabrics with one main objective: to showcase each designers inspiration for what you will be wearing for Spring 2009. The main theme was print and figure illusion. We all will be comfortably-chic this spring. Just always remember that these all are ideas. Keep in mind what works best for your body-type. Add only one or two trendy items to your classic wardrobe each season. As always, happy shopping! London Fashion Week starts Monday, and LA Fashion Week is in October!!! I'll be giving you the scenes.

Camileon Heels

Low to high heel...-Valeria-$305.00

I first saw these shoes on The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch. I think they are so very ingenious. They were designed by a brother-sister team; and inspired by women of NYC with business suits and walking shoes on, and the Transformers toy. The shoe infuses a walking shoe with a classic pump. The heel actually folds away and becomes a low-heeled comfort shoe. The styles are classic and perfect for that conservative business woman. This is the perfect shoe for any woman that is looking to build their wardrobe and needs a great everyday staple.

Adjusting CAMiLEON Heels from high-to-low heel positions is accomplished in three easy steps:
  1. Secure one hand around the top of the heel, while the other hand pulls straight down on the lower half of the heel to disengage it from its upright locked position.
  2. Push forward on the lower portion of the heel until it stops moving and is stowed directly under the arch region of the shoe.
  3. Push straight backward on the tip of the stowed heel until it is recessed slightly into the upper heel cavity and secured in its locked position. Done! Once the adjustment has been made from a high-to-low heel position, the upper edge of the stowed heel should no longer be visible. To restore the heel back into its full high heel position, simply reverse the previous steps. -excerpt from camileon heels

I think this shoe has the potential for market dominance with a little bit more creativity in styles, and some celebrity endoresements. Soon we all will be sporting the Camileon Heel!!! Happy Shopping!!!

M-B FASHION WEEK... Day Seven

The Eve Of The End...

Zac Posen

Calvin Klein

...And on the seventh day, there was angelic, libidinous, inventiveness! My favorites of the day were the collections from Wang, Taylor, Klein, and Posen. They all wreaked of simple, sexiness. Zac bought dramatically-suttle silhouettes and fabrics; while Calvin showcased his signature minimalist-chic collection. Bohemian never looked so sexy as it did from Rebecca Taylor's collection. And as always, Vera makes ready-to-wear look so haute couture with her structure and cuts within the fabrics. Thursday was only the beginning of the eve, of the end, of an extraordinary week of fashion talent.
